Gender Affirming Medical Care for Youth and Young Adults
At Transformation Clinic, a board-certified pediatrician provides gender-affirming care for youth and young adults via telehealth, with additional in-person services coming soon at our new brick-and-mortar Seattle location.
There is no specific age cut-off; the decision to treat at our clinic is based on your specific clinical situation. In the future, we hope to expand our practice to offer services to adults of all ages.
Puberty blockers can be considered after the earliest signs of puberty. Puberty blockers put a “pause button” on puberty and are completely reversible. We are also happy to meet with families of younger children to provide education, guidance, and discuss a plan for the future, so that families feel prepared.
We believe care works best when it is thoughtful, proactive, and centered on each young person’s unique needs and timeline, neither rushed nor unnecessarily delayed.

Care for Minors
In the State of Washington, minors can consent to some types of medical care independently including mental health care (ages 13+) and reproductive health care such as birth control, menstrual suppression, and STI testing (ages 14+).
For gender affirming care, family support and consent is required by law. Research shows that gender diverse young people who feel supported and accepted by their families have better mental health outcomes than youth who are unsupported. In fact, parental support makes an even bigger impact on improving mental health for LGBTQ+ children compared to their LGBTQ+ counterparts.
Our goal is to partner with your family and provide a calm, sane sounding board when youth and caregivers aren’t yet aligned on their goals of care. Schedule an appointment.
